Driftwood Communications is urgently recruiting an experienced CONSTRUCTION FIELD SUPERVISOR in Kelowna and Victoria!  
*Must have experience and/or deep knowledge of placing and coax

Location: Positions in Victoria and Kelowna 

Compensation: $33-$40/hour based on experience 

 
Roles and Responsibilities: 

Must be able to work in the field, be thoroughly knowledgeable with coax and placing (experience and knowledge of Fibre splicing will be considered an asset) 

 
  • Lead teams in the safe and high-quality installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure in accordance with priorities and schedule 
  • Manage, train & demonstrate proper use of equipment & machinery 
  • Represent Driftwood in interactions with clients, residents, and businesses, keeping them informed of work 
  • Complete pre-job planning including survey, layout, material inventory 
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment 
  • Work in varied weather conditions 
  • Complete pre-work and ongoing safety hazard assessments and hazard controls, with attention to hazards, processes, equipment, tools & materiuals to recognize potential safety risks; report any incidents and injuries, and assist in investigations 
  • Conduct pre-trip equipment inspections; report all issues 
  • Complete routine equipment cleaning, maintenance and repairs 
  • Review plans and drawings for installation guidance 
  • Complete documentation including safety, production, materials 
  • Identify buried underground utilities prior to excavation using methods including drawing review, utility locators, hand excavation, and hydrovac. 
  • Other tasks as required 
 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Experience in the installation of fiber-optic technology (asset) 
  • 5+ years’ experience leading crews in civil work utilizing a variety of construction equipment (required) 
  • Vibratory plow (asset) 
  • Horizontal directional drill (asset) 
  • Mini-excavator (asset) 
  • Trencher (asset) 
  • Driver’s License 
  • Class 5 (minimum required) 
  • Class 3 License (asset) 
  • Trailer Endorsement (asset) 
  • Safety Certifications 
  • Leadership in Safety Excellence (asset) 
  • Utility Locating (asset) 
  • Level 1 first aid (asset) 
  • Ground Disturbance (asset)
