Driftwood Communications is urgently hiring for experienced COAX FIBRE SPLICERS (with Placing ability) in Kelowna and Victoria! 

Location: BC (Victoria and Kelowna) 
Compensation: $28-$37/hour (based on experience and certification)
 
Job Summary: 
The successful candidate will be working primarily with fibre and all associated termination hardware. CAndidate must be competent with all splicing activities as well as troubleshooting, placing, termination, testing, documentation, and related activities, and must be familiar with FOSC’s, Mid-stripping, and FEP installations. 
The successful candidates must be prepared to work in all weather conditions and confined spaces; with the flexibility to travel to various areas within BC. In addition, you will be required to follow all safety practices that include daily truck inspections, on-site toolbox meetings and all other industry and company safety practices.

Requirements: 
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and provide a recent driver abstract 
  • Being able to read and understand design maps and splice documents 
  • Successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check 
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to safety while working in all environments 
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, in a team environment as well as independent 
  • Able to work in a physically demanding atmosphere, lifting over 75 lbs., climb ladders, handling pumps and blowers, entering confined spaces and other related tasks 
  • Being self-disciplined and organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Customer focused individual with a commitment to quality workmanship and craft 
  • Skilled in interpreting and implementing engineered design maps and records 
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends or on emergency call outs as required 
  • Having Aerial Lift, Confined Spaces, First Aid, Ground Distance, Fall Arrest, Ladder Safety & Handling, Hydro Awareness/ 7 Steps to Safety are all assets 
  • Willingness to support after hours and emergency call outs 
  • Being Shaw and or Telus certified is an asset 

Responsibilities: 
  • Being completely accountable for all projects you are working on, including the completion documentation 
  • Having the ability to troubleshoot active networks is essential 
  • Able to work in a team atmosphere as well as independently 
  • Ability to coach, train and mentor coworkers in the fibre craft is an asset 
  • Experienced in leading a team working together to meet project due dates 
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in the placing / lashing of various materials is an asset 
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in splicing, activating and testing various types of fibre 
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Experience in working with pressure testing 
  • Strong organizational skills
