Driftwood Communications is actively recruiting full-time skill labourers to start their career telecom industry as Entry Level Construction Labourers with our Construction Team in Kelowna. Compensation is $25-$28 per hour based on experience and this is a full time job.

What you will be doing:
- Assist in the high-quality installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure
- Place aerial and underground telecom cables
- Work in varied weather conditions
- Complete pre-work and ongoing safety hazard assessments/hazard controls; report all incidents
- Conduct pre-trip equipment inspections; report all issues
- Complete routine equipment cleaning, maintenance, and repairs
- Review plans and drawings for installation guidance
- Complete documentation including safety, production, materials
- Positively reflect Driftwood in interactions with clients, residents, and businesses
- Assist in identification of buried underground utilities prior to excavation
- Physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 80 pounds in an outdoor environment
- Other tasks as required
Considered Assets:
- Experience in the installation of fibre-optic technology (asset)
- Construction experience is not required but an asset, and ideally, a combination of the following:
- Small equipment
- Service boxes
- Conduit
Driver’s License
- Class 5 (minimum required)
- Air Brakes (asset, but DW will assist with acquiring certification once hired)
- Class 3 License (asset)
- Trailer Endorsement (asset)
Safety Certifications
- Level 1 first aid (asset)
- Ground Disturbance (asset)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis throughout the shift
- Work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts
- Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including operating tools and equipment
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and materials
- Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
